Phenomenology of Metallic Resistivity Observed in Single-Wall Nanotube Ropes as a Strongly Coupled -Electron C Ion Plasma
Single-wall carbon nanotube ropes have been observed by Fischer et al. to exhibit metallic resistivity ρ(T). Drawing on results from strongly coupled plasmas, a phenomenological description of the observed positive dρ/dT above 35 K is proposed. The interest in studying also the ac conductivity over a wide range of temperature and frequency is stressed to distinguish between the strongly correlated picture proposed here ("hopping conductivity") versus the normal metallic band conductivity.
